Pet services
Dog walking, sitting, grooming and daycare — licensing, bookings and trust.

Pet services is a trust business with a licensing trap. Owners are handing over a family member, and for boarding or daycare you legally cannot trade without a council licence — which takes longer to get than most people expect.
What matters most when you start a pet services business
- Check the licence first. Boarding, home boarding and daycare need an animal activity licence in England. Walking usually does not. Ring your council before you take a booking.
- Standard insurance is not enough. You need care, custody and control cover for animals in your care.
- Recurring walks are the business. One-off bookings are pocket money. A book of regular weekly slots is an income.
- Photo updates are marketing. The photo from the walk is the thing owners share, and it sells for you without ever looking like an advert.
- Vets and groomers refer. Two local vets and one groomer will send you more work than any advert you can afford.
