Privacy Policy

QuiqStart is a free business planning tool operated by Kivein Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales. This policy explains what information we collect when you use QuiqStart, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have designed QuiqStart to collect as little personal information as possible.

The short version

You can generate a complete business plan without giving us your name, email address or any other personal details.
Your questionnaire answers are stored temporarily against an unguessable link and are deleted automatically. They are never connected to your identity.
We only hold personal information if you choose to give it to us: by emailing yourself a plan, ticking the newsletter box, or sending an enquiry.

What we collect and why

Questionnaire answers

When you complete the planner, your answers are used to generate your plan. The plan is stored temporarily on our server against a random link so that you can reload, print or email it. It contains your answers only. It does not contain your name, email address, IP address or any other identifier, and it is deleted automatically after a short retention period.

Emailing yourself a plan

If you use the “Email me a copy” feature, we use the email address you enter once, to send you the link to your plan. We do not add you to any mailing list and we do not keep the address for marketing unless you separately tick the newsletter box.

If a newsletter option is shown and you tick the box, we record your email address, the date and time of your consent, and where you gave it. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time. The box is never pre ticked.

Enquiries

If you send an enquiry through our services or contact forms, we collect the details you provide (such as your name, email address, telephone number and message) so that we can reply. A summary of your generated plan is attached only if you tick the box asking us to include it. Enquiries are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted automatically.

Legal basis

Under UK GDPR, we rely on consent for the newsletter and for attaching a plan summary to an enquiry, and on legitimate interests for responding to enquiries you send us and for keeping the service secure (for example, short lived rate limiting that uses a hashed, non reversible form of your connection address).

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site (such as our hosting and email delivery providers), under contracts that restrict what they can do with it, or where the law requires disclosure.

Affiliate links and third parties

Some recommendations on generated plans are affiliate links, including links to Amazon. If you click one, you leave our site and the destination site’s own privacy policy applies. We count clicks on these links in aggregate on our own server; this counting does not identify you.

How long we keep information

Generated plans: deleted automatically after the retention period shown when the plan is created (7 days by default).
Enquiries: deleted automatically after 12 months.
Newsletter consent records: kept while you remain subscribed, then removed.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict our use of it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
